Recap December 2025
After a busy November, December was already just around the corner, of course, with Sinterklaas and Christmas as the absolute highlights of the month.
Sinterklaas
On December 1st, the celebrations kicked off with a Sinterklaas party organized by the Ecie. We gathered at Time Out for a fun gift-exchange dice game and some drinks (dobbelen, for Dutchies). While enjoying delicious hot chocolate, we competed for all kinds of cute items: a small oven dish/pan, a nice mug, lots of chocolate, and fluffy socks. Basically, everything you need to get through winter in a cozy way. Apparently, what you also need during a dice game night is a game where you throw little balls at each other’s heads while wearing some kind of condom-like hats. At least, according to Karlijn and Louise. See the photos attached for a better idea of what they mean by that, haha.
Barcie Dinner
The Barcie didn’t sit still this month either and, as usual, organized a lovely dinner, this time at Happy Italy. Since Sinterklaas had already had plenty of attention, they decided on a different theme: “dress up as your favorite nostalgic childhood character.” From Dora (complete with wig, backpack, and map) to a handmade Lightning McQueen costume, people went all out! We enjoyed plenty of pizza and pasta and left with very happy, full stomachs. Afterwards, we all headed to Winterstad at the Grote Markt for a cozy glass of mulled wine.
Christmas Dinner and Drinks
Every year, the Barcie and Ecie team up to organize a Christmas Dinner, an event lots of Parafridders look forward to. On December 18th, we were welcomed at Het Pakhuis with mountains – and I’m not exaggerating – of appetizers. There were nachos (we couldn’t even tell at first whether they had mushrooms or minced meat on them, they were that good), cheese bites, and plenty of freshly baked bread with all kinds of dips. But, the real feast was still to come! For the main course, we could order anything from the menu, with steak, spareribs, and even cheese fondue being the most popular choices. Of course, dessert was a must as well. We truly enjoyed ourselves and completely filled our stomachs, which, as students, is something that doesn't happen every day, or at least not to this extent with such good food! Definitely worth repeating! To wrap up the evening, we headed to het Concerthuis, where a few other members who hadn’t joined the dinner met up with us.
All in all, we couldn’t have wished for a better way to end the year together, and that’s largely thanks to the Barcie and Ecie. Thank you guys so much <3
