Recap January 2026
2026 has arrived! After a nice, well-deserved winter break, all Parafridders slowly made their way back to Groningen for the first lessons of the year! January was quite a relaxing month with one major highlight: the club dressage competition!
Barcie dinner & drinks
For this month's edition, we made our way to Francesca's house to enjoy some lovely homemade Thai curry-style noodle soup with gyoza. While quite a challenging dish to make, it tasted wonderfully and was paired with some wine, beer & good talks :) As for our outfits, the theme was also quite a creative one: "wear something you don't usually get a chance to wear", and it provided an opportunity for people to show up in all kinds of outfits with pretty dresses, cool shirts, and even onesies! Thanks, Francesca, for hosting. We had a great time!
Club dressage competition
The annual fight to become this year's club champion has started again! After Karlijn's beautiful victory last year with Asterix in 70-80cm showjumping and Balthazar in the Lb dressage, I can't wait to see who claims the title this year!
We had lots of people competing for the prize, with Parafridders participating in the Ba, Bb, La & Lb. For the SOPcie, organizing such an event can be a lot of work, so luckily, we had a bunch of amazing volunteers to help us out with making sure the arena and fences were in tip-top condition, the horses looked pretty, and the judge got help writing down her comments. Everything went pretty smoothly with no major hiccups, so it was an edition to be proud of for the SOPcie! Huge thanks to you guys and Manege de Bongerd for organizing this day.
Everyone, at their own levels, did their very best & even the horses seemed to be having a good time! They all behaved well and helped their riders achieve their goals.
Now, for the results:
In the categories Ba & Bb:
1st prize: Birgit on Steff (just like last year!)
2nd prize: Sophie on Amalia
3rd prize: Ana on Sol
In the categories La & Lb:
1st prize: Willemijn on Rosie
2nd prize: Sylvana on Rosie
3rd prize: Kiki on Lieve
Great job, everybody! We're already looking forward to this year's jumping competition!! The photo's will be published on the website soon :)
