Recap November 2025
November was a super busy month full of fun activities. Read along!
Hubertus Trailride
As every year, the Ecie once again organised the Hubertus trail ride this year, a tradition within Parafrid. Each year, the Ecie takes us to RC het Fjordenpaard, where we head out into the forest with a group of experienced, but mainly brave and enthusiastic, Parafriders. With some gallops, popping over a few jumps here and there, nothing is too crazy. The weather was incredibly good (at least compared to last year, when our toes nearly froze off), and we had fantastic horses with us. There were no casualties this year, which in itself is quite an achievement! After the trail ride, we all went to McDonald’s together. We're already looking forward to next year :)
Barcie Dinner + Cocktails
For the month of November, the Barcie had once again come up with something fun. At one of the members’ homes, we enjoyed homemade pasta and cocktails! The theme was “autumn,” and everyone showed up dressed in their most beautiful autumn colours. The cocktails were delicious and definitely worth repeating!
Dressage Clinic
For our first clinic of the year, we held a dressage clinic at Les Chevaux in Buinen, Drenthe. Our Parafriders were divided into two groups, each of which got an hour to practise their dressage skills. We really enjoyed the horses!
Sinterklaas
Also a long-standing tradition: this year we once again accompanied Sinterklaas during his arrival in Groningen, both by boat and on horseback. With a number of lovely horses from Jan Dolfing, we set off dressed as true Spanish noblemen, complete with a sword! Afterwards, the board enjoyed a lovely dinner with the Royal Association for Public Festivities Groningen, which turned out to be a very successful evening!
Book Club
The Ecie has come up with a new activity that is certainly worth repeating during the colder, darker months: the book club! A small group of Parafriders got together to read their books together, while enjoying some snacks and a nice warm drink.
SO Hipac
Well, this was definitely one for the books. With nine Parafriders, we headed to Manege Groenewoude on the 29th of November, where we competed against our sister associations, and to be honest, we really fought for it! The horses were clearly in their winter feels, and had to let out some of their energy in nearly every test. Unfortunately, our lovely newcomer, Willemijn, fell off within three minutes, and Tamara also had some bad luck. After the people she was competing against had already fallen during Burzl’s very first canter, it was up to her to decide whether or not to canter. But Tamara is a true team player, so she decided to go for the canter anyway, and with success! Well, until the last two metres. With a “fun” athletic leap, Burzl launched into the air in all directions. Tamara and Willemijn weren't alone; in a few other tests as well, by our dear Parafriders (and the sister associations), the horses sometimes jumped sideways, including Merel’s, again with an impressive buck. Despite the winter antics of some of the horses, the Parafriders put in an incredible effort, and not without results. Emma placed 1st in the Bb, and Kris 4th in the La! Once again, we are proud of our girls! ParafridPowerrr!!!
