Recap October 2025

GMA

October may have been a slightly quieter month for our members, but behind the scenes, a lot was happening! On the 2nd of October, our General Members’ Assembly (GMA) took place, during which all members were able to vote on things such as new policy plans, committees for the upcoming association year, and, of course, the new board. During this meeting, Board Nonius was formally discharged, and Board Kentauros was officially installed.

On behalf of Board Kentauros, we would like to sincerely thank Board Nonius (Muriël, Dewi, Karlijn, and Mikky) for all their hard work over the past year. They did everything they could to keep the association running smoothly, and they did a great job at it! We can look back on a wonderful year full of adventures and lots of memories: from a fun pub quiz at the start of the year for new members, many successful socials and dinners, a very successful Hubertus ride, a fan-tas-tic club weekend, an amazing SOP, all the way to the VNSK! In addition to all these great in-person activities, they also worked tirelessly behind the scenes. A new multi-year policy plan was developed, they experimented with new ways of organising activities (mainly with the Barcie), and they did everything they could to keep everyone as enthusiastic and satisfied as possible within the association. They did an outstanding job, something they can be super proud of themselves for. Once again, chapeau, ladies!

After Board Nonius was formally discharged, it was time to welcome the new board: Kentauros! We would especially like to highlight how happy we are that Karlijn and Mikky were not quite finished after Nonius and are now also part of the 40th board of G.S.P.V. Parafrid. We are incredibly grateful to them and can make great use of the expertise they have built up over the past year. The new board consists of Louise Haakman as Chair, Mikky van der Weijde as Secretary, Karlijn Strien as Treasurer, Annet Veldman as Events Commissioner, and Kiki van Ettro as General Board Member. As I'm writing this, we've already been active for a while, but from the very beginning, we were extremely excited to get started. Since August, we had been meeting frequently to map out our year and write our policy plan, which certainly wasn’t always easy, but allowed us to bond a lot. After officially starting in October, we were finally able to fully take on our board responsibilities, which felt really good to do. Although there was a lot to learn in the beginning, we have also had an incredible amount of fun with each other and with everyone within the association. We would also like to extend a big thank you to our Kascie, RVT, and “grandma's”, who helped us get off to a great start and who are still always here for us.

Barcie Dinner & Social

Aside from the ALV, October was a fairly quiet month with one exception: our monthly dinner and social organised by the Barcie! This month’s theme was “Time Machine”, meaning everyone was tasked with dressing as if they were travelling forward or backwards in time. A large group of Parafridders came together at the restaurant, the Olijfboom, where we enjoyed a delicious Greek meal. We indulged in kalamakia, moussaka, and loukaniko, of course, accompanied by a fitting drink. Afterwards, we all headed to De Drie Gezusters, where we spent a long time chatting and enjoying a few more drinks together. A few brave Parafridders even continued to roam the streets of Groningen until late into the night. All in all, we had a great time!
